Environment and Climate Reporting

Journalism handbook and training on green issues reporting
CARE Laos

For a European Union-funded project on green reporting implemented by CARE Laos, I conducted training needs assessments with Lao journalists, created a guide to quality journalism, and trained journalists how to better cover climate change and the country's environmental challenges.

In a second stage of the project, I will create an online self-study guide on green issues reporting, digital literacy and media governance for Lao youth active in media.
In 2024, I authored a handbook on green issues reporting for Lao media practitioners. Topics included:

  • journalism standards
  • basic reporting skills
  • Lao media law
  • digital tools
  • AI
  • social media best-practices
  • photography and infographics
  • storytelling for audience engagement
  • gender equality in the media sector
Based on the findings of a training needs assessment I conducted, I designed and facilitated interactive, participatory workshops with Lao journalists and communications professionals using the guidelines in the Green Quality Journalism Standards handbook.
I am currently working on a self-learning course on climate and environment issues, digital literacy and media governance for Lao youth active in the media.
